Part Time Position
On Site Location: Bulverde, TX
PRIMARY FUNCTION/RESPONSIBILTY
Under the direction of the Child Nutrition Manger, this role is directly responsible for ensuring nutrition compliance of the menu offerings in accordance with USDA guidelines as well as leading efforts in the development and analysis of healthy school menus that maximize nutrition and student acceptability. Acts as secondary assistance to residential staff in times of emergency as it pretends to the youth present on campus
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative
- Assist the Child Nutrition Manager with budget management and placing food orders.
- Establish and maintain positive and professional relationships with community agencies and government officials.
- Attend scheduled trainings and staff meetings.
- Document USDA food program data.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations and contract requirements.
- Ensure safety and supervision of youth as needed.
- Communicates effectively with residents, staff, and other professionals.
Program (Touchstone and Charter School)
- Prepare and serve daily meals to residents.
- Assist in supervising residents in the serving area regarding safety and behavior.
- Assist with cleaning before and after meals are served.
- Demonstrates general knowledge of cooking and ability to follow recipes and create menus.
- Maintains accurate records for National School Lunch, Breakfast, and Afterschool operations.
- Maintains accurate inventory of food, supplies, and equipment and submits timely, cost-effective orders as needed (Touchstone and Charter School).
- Purchasing supplies monthly for the Touchstone campus and Charter School.
- Assist with checking daily school roster for the charter school.
- Fills out all forms and reports required for the Federal School Lunch Program.
- Maintain cleanliness of the food serving environment, ensuring a safe and secure environment.
- Maintains appropriate State of Texas food handler’s certification as required for state inspections.
- Communicate with Shift Supervisors and Youth Care Specialist to ensure staff have all food items needed to prepare food in the house.
- Remain consistent with trainings as outlined in the Youth Care Specialist position and maintain ratio status to assist residential staff in times of emergency
- Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certification.
- 6 months in Child Care Based Field.
- 1 year in National School Lunch Program/Food Service Experience
- 1+ years of USDA/National Program Experience
Preferred:
- 24 College Credits, Certification or Associates in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Psychology, or Related Field.
- 3+ years in Child Care Based Field.
- 5+ years of USDA/National Program Experience
Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:
- Valid Texas Driver’s License, good driving record, ability to provide own transportation and proof of current automobile insurance.
- CPR/First Aid Certification (provided).
- SAMA Certification (provided).
- Age minimum of 21 years of age per licensing standards.
- Food Handlers Certificate.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION
- Body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend, reach, and walk and walk briskly in order to interact with and monitor children.
- Stamina to work long days and drive long distances.
- Moderate to heavy lifting to up to 60 pounds.
- Must have the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Must have the ability to give and receive verbal and written instructions (with or without hearing aids).
- Must have the ability to read fine print, have sustained vision, and peripheral vision (with or without glasses).
- Environment requires dexterity to remain calm and adapt to fast paced and emotional environments consisting of children with moderate to severe emotional and psychological needs.
- Home-like settings with varying moderate to high degrees of background noise.
- Light and ventilation are found in a typical home setting.
- Campuses are smoke-free, except on permitted campuses in designated areas.
- Possible injury when lifting or moving (child or objects) if employee fails to use proper body mechanics, or if proper techniques are not used when the use of SAMA containment techniques are required.
