Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Electrician to perform a wide range of electrical trade functions. This position offers a 4-day workweek with all major holidays off, and minimal overtime. The position covers several facilities in an area around Lafayette, LA, with tools and vehicle provided for work related tasks.
Essential Job Functions
- Expertise in both high and low voltage systems up to 480V and be able to work with various electrical components and systems
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment
- Install and repair electrical components such as transformers, circuit breakers, switchboards, controllers, and motors, as well as assist with certain HVAC systems
- Perform diagnostic tests to locate malfunctions and use appropriate test equipment to identify electrical issues
- Conduct modifications, replacements, and installations of various electrical equipment and systems
- Troubleshoot malfunctions in electrical systems and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment, document PM’s, and report them to Supervisor
- Respond to service calls in a timely manner and report work completed to Supervisor
Education/Experience
- Safety driven and oriented
- High School Education or G.E.D
- Vocation/technical training is a plus
- Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of special education and experience as a certified and/or licensed electrician
- Effective written and oral communication is required
- OSHA certifications are a plus
- Must be able to pass a federal background check and pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Must have a clean driving record and maintain a valid driver’s license
Physical Demands
- Ability to work at heights, climb stairs/ladders, and have full motor skills for tedious and strenuous work
- Walk/stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift heavy bulky objects
- Ability to work with hand tools required to perform required tasks
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in tight/cramped spaces
- Ability and willingness to work afterhours, overtime, weekends, and adjust work schedule for repairs and emergencies
