Immigration Specialist The Immigration Specialist provides confidential immigration legal assistance and representation focused on family reunification, naturalization, and humanitarian relief. The role ensures compliance with DOJ accreditation standards, maintains accurate records, and engages in community outreach and education. Job Responsibilities Provide highly confidential direct immigration legal counseling to clients regarding immigration matters, emphasizing family reunification, naturalization, VAWA, and U Visas. Analyze and evaluate data based on current U.S. immigration laws, gather case information, advise clients on documentation, and refer complex cases to pro bono or low bono attorneys with approval from the program director. Prepare immigration forms required by U.S. immigration laws for eligible clients, guide them through the process, and adhere to professional conduct rules under DOJ accreditation standards. Represent clients before USCIS Chicago District Office, Department of Homeland Security, State Department, and abroad in consulates and embassies. Responsible for taking fingerprints and other procedural tasks. Assist in planning confidential administrative and organizational matters as requested by the program director. Gather data on immigration laws, regulations, and court decisions. Monitor and research significant developments in citizenship and immigration laws. Fluent in English and Spanish; notarize documents as needed. Maintain accurate client files and databases, generate reports for compliance and funding purposes. Participate in community outreach and education on immigration laws and benefits. Note: Essential functions include all other duties as assigned.
