Job Title: Instructional Designer

Company Introduction: G&C Food Distributors is a leading re-distributor of refrigerated, frozen, and dry food. We store and deliver more than 4,000 food items to meet the needs of our customers across multiple states and countries internationally. Schedule: Monday through Friday 8a-5p

Job Summary:

We are seeking a creative and strategic Instructional Designer to join our team in developing impactful learning experiences across departments. In this role, you’ll create graphics, animation, video, and audio content while collaborating with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to design and deliver engaging onboarding modules and e-learning courses that support employee growth and operational excellence. You’ll apply adult learning principles and instructional design theory to create interactive content that prepares employees for hands-on work and promotes continuous learning. You’ll manage our Learning Management System (LMS), create reports for managers on assignment completions, assess training effectiveness, and help shape career development pathways that align with organizational goals. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work directly within departments to define and document learning objectives.
  • Develop content to support Onboarding initiatives for Office and Operations departments.
  • Develop a process to curriculum map existing training by warehouse trainers to identify training development needs to support the hands-on training already in place.
  • Work with subject matter experts (SME’s) in all departments, to determine priorities and needs.
  • Work with subject matter experts to convert existing & create new instructional material that is interactive & supports adult learning principles; output includes microlearning, courses, curriculum, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • Create Media (video, audio, graphics and animation) using content development tools.
  • Design and develop e- learning/Microlearning experiences that elevate the User Experience (UX), prepare users for hands-on work, while applying sound instructional design theory.
  • Collaborate with the project team, including Business Analysts, Department Training Managers, and the Business Solutions team, to ensure project progression.
  • Understand adult learning principles & how to apply them to an ever-changing business environment.
  • Administer a Learning Management System to post, assign, track, and report on e-learning.
  • Measure and assess the effectiveness of instructional materials.
  • Redesign content to meet the needs of departmental learners and seek feedback on a continual basis.
  • Promote Upskilling/Reskilling/Continuing Education opportunities that support personal and corporate growth and retention.
  • Work with senior management to develop career training tracks for our employees who want to grow within the company.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Experience and Education Required:

  • Skilled in eLearning, Course creation and Video/Audio tools such as Adobe CC, Camtasia, Vyond, Articulate 360/Storyline/Rise, WellSaid Labs, etc.
  • Experience designing to learning industry standards (SCORM/LTI/AICC/xAPI/etc.)
  • Skilled in managing a Learning Management System.
  • Interviewing of SME’s for the purpose of developing procedural outlines to later be developed into SOP’s and course learning objectives.
  • Authority in adult learning theory and learning design methodologies.
  • Vocational or Adult teaching experience is a plus
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education (or something similar)
  • 5+ years of professional experience in designing and developing learning experiences, in roles such as instructional designer, learning experience designer, learning architect, or similar
  • Or, 5+ years of classroom experience with evidence of strong technical skills in developing online content.
