This role is a great opportunity for a student to work at our offices in Thousand Oaks. The position is a paid internship during school semesters with hybrid work available. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Intern, Software Development Engineer. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with large language models ("AI" chatbots) and coding tools and interfaces to solve real-world data networking problems. You will work closely with our network and technology teams to support various AI related projects and initiatives. As an Intern, Software Development Engineer, you will have the chance to develop and enhance your skills in AI/ML large language models, descriptive statistics, and programming in C#, Python, or JavaScript. You will work on projects that span across multiple business functions, such as engineering, and cost efficiency, which will provide you with a well-rounded understanding of how developing AI/ML. Successful interns will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects and make a lasting impact on the organization. What is the training program like? Develop software to bridge the gap between AI/ML and humans. Collaborate with the team on pre prompt engineering and pre input data analytics that deliver repeatable results and token optimization. Deliver optimized Web based GUIs and automation for AI assisted Ethernet network analytics, configuration assistants, or cybersecurity review and agents. Communicate progress and problem solving through reports and working sessions. What experience do I need or are you looking for? Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in software engineering, data science, computer science, or a related field. Fluent in one or more programming languages such as C#, Python, or JavaScript. Strong interest in large language models and adjacent technology such as ChatGPT, Pythia, Gemini, DeepSeek, etc. Familiar with LLM token usage, structured formats such as JSON, YAML, and pre prompt engineering. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in research and development mode and deliver a functional demonstration of the technology. Knowledge of descriptive statistics and/or Ethernet networking a significant plus. Location: Thousand Oaks, CA area. Salary range is $20-22 per hour. Maximum of 29 hours per week. Why ALE?
