Job Title: IT Help Desk Technician (Entry Level)

Location: Orange City, IA

Department: Information Technology

Reports To: IT Manager

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Overview: We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused IT Help Desk Technician to join our team. This entry-level position is perfect for someone passionate about technology and eager to start a career in IT support. The IT Help Desk Technician will be the first point of contact for end-users experiencing technical issues and will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving basic hardware and software problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as one of the points of contact for end-users seeking technical assistance via phone, email, or in-person.

  • Provide basic technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network-related issues.

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.

  • Assist with user account management, including password resets and access control.

  • Document and track all support requests in the help desk ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and communication with end-users.

  • Escalate complex issues to higher-level IT staff when necessary.

  • Provide guidance and support for software installations and updates.

  • Assist in maintaining IT documentation, including user guides and standard operating procedures. Along with maintaining IT inventory.

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the IT department.

  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree in Information Technology or related field is a plus.

  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Customer service-oriented with a friendly and professional demeanor.

  • Eagerness to learn and grow within the IT field.

  • Familiarity with Windows and macOS operating systems.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and common software applications.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with help desk ticketing systems.

  • Experience with remote desktop support tools.

Physical Demands

Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is also, at times, exposed to fumes and or airborne particulates.
