Offshore Aviation Group is seeking an Able Bodied Seaman (AB) for our operation aboard the M/V OAG Responder.

About You

This person will be team-oriented, adaptable, dynamic, and embody the common goal of operating a growing fleet of commercial vessels which support the Department of Defense and other projects.

About the Position

The AB Seaman will be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the vessel, ensuring safe navigation, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the ship. They assist with 3 rd party clients as needed operating deck machinery critical to the project. The Able-Bodied Seaman will promote good working relationships with other departments, third-party personnel and Customer representatives.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  Deck Operations:

• Assist in the handling and securing of ropes, lines, and cargo.
• Perform tasks related to the ship’s deck, including maintaining and cleaning deck equipment and machinery.
• Operate and maintain winches, cranes, and other deck machinery as required.
• Assist in anchoring, mooring, and unmooring of the vessel.

  Watchkeeping:

• Stand watch on the bridge, performing lookout duties and assisting the officer of the watch in navigation and operational tasks.
• Observe and report hazards, changes in weather, and other conditions affecting the safety of the vessel.
• Monitor vessel’s position and report to officers.

  Safety & Emergency Response:

• Ensure that safety equipment, including lifeboats, life rafts, fire extinguishers, and other essential gear, is in working order.
• Assist in safety drills, fire-fighting drills, and abandon ship drills.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and provide support as directed by the Captain or Senior Officer.

  Maintenance & Cleaning:

• Perform routine maintenance of the ship, including cleaning, painting, and upkeep of the deck, engine room, and other areas.
• Carry out minor repairs and replacements on equipment and machinery.
• Ensure cleanliness and orderliness in all areas of the vessel.

  Cargo Handling:

• Assist in loading and unloading cargo, ensuring all procedures are carried out safely and according to regulations.
• Secure cargo on board to prevent shifting during transit.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Valid Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC)
• Minimum Able Bodied Seaman Special
• Valid U.S. Passport
• Valid USCG Medical Certificate
• Valid TWIC Card
• Ability to pass a physical exam

Salary: $375 / day full time

Hitches: 6 weeks on/off

Benefits: Enrolled into QSEHRA, 401K after qualifying time
