Network Infrastructure Action Officer The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles SFB, CA is searching for a Network Infrastructure Action Officer, S6 (NH-2210-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent). The Space Systems Command (SSC) S6 (SSC/S6 is a Command-level organization responsible for influencing the evolution of technology, information, information technology, cybersecurity, and security across the command. The Network Infrastructure Action Officer will lead a combined (civilian, contractor, military) team dedicated to advancing the Command's network infrastructure capabilities for its 16,000-member workforce by: Acting as the Action Officer for the SSC Cyber & IT Forum, facilitating discussions on cybersecurity and network infrastructure while ensuring alignment with SSC's mission objectives; Serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all network infrastructure projects, providing strategic guidance and technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle, including base-level modernization and digital engineering initiatives; Providing strategic oversight to align network infrastructure investments with SSC's long-term goals and broader Department of the Air Force and United States Space Force initiatives; Collaborating with SSC Communications Squadrons and other stakeholders to advocate for network infrastructure resources, actively participating in the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process to secure necessary funding; and Leading efforts to modernize SSC's network infrastructure, implementing cutting-edge technologies to enhance performance, security, and reliability while overseeing pilot programs for multi-classification client systems and secure mobile access solutions. Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate for the Network Infrastructure Action Officer position will have a strong understanding of architecting, managing, modernizing, and securing Government networks, with extensive experience in cloud-based IT infrastructure and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions. The candidate should possess expertise across all phases of the acquisition lifecycle, from requirements generation, architecture development, research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E), to production and operations sustainment. Experience working with Space Systems Command (SSC), United States Space Force (USSF), Department of the Air Force (DAF), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), and Department of Defense (DoD) level offices, including the Chief Information Office (CIO), Chief Data Office (CDO), and USSF S6, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the space domain and space systems is preferred. They should possess strong leadership and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: In-depth knowledge of cyber and architecture security principles, concepts, practices, products and services (including software defined networking, passive optical networks, cloud architecture, and immediate access storage technology), and methods for evaluating risk and vulnerability, implementing mitigating improvement, and disseminating IT security tools and procedures. Knowledge of cyber security principles, policies, products and services to assess risk factors and advise on vulnerability to attack from a variety of sources (e.g. destructive programs/applications/viruses, unauthorized access, disruption of services, espionage) and procedures and methods for protection of systems and applications. Advanced knowledge of processes and procedures for implementation and execution of war plans, to include in-depth knowledge of the National Command Authority, Executive Branch relationships and agreements, DoD, the Joint Staff, and departmental structures and relationships. Ability to apply quantitative techniques and develop, adapt, modify and apply models to solve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions for management. Knowledge of commonly applied telecommunications principles, concepts, and methodologies, operating characteristics and capabilities of systems, media, equipment, and related software systems, processes and procedures to assess the efficiency of operations and make recommendations involving equipment and system integrity. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to organize and lead study teams tasked to originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; execute projects and/or studies within established financial and/or time constraints; and design, build, program, and use models and simulation techniques to facilitate findings. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses and organizational requirements (relevant to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation). Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk). Requirements: Conditions of employment: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
