Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is well recognized as Hawai'i's leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 207 beds and 66 bassinettes, the nonprofit hospital is Hawai'i's only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is also a tertiary care, medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency care, neonatal and pediatric air transport and children's specialty clinics. With a dedicated team of more than 1,300 employees and 604 physicians, the hospital is home to Kapi'olani Women's Center, Kapi'olani Breast Center and Kapi'olani Women's Cancer Center, the state's only dedicated breast health and gynecological cancer centers. Kapi'olani offers numerous community programs and services, such as the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and Sex Abuse Treatment Center, and through our affiliation with the University of Hawai'i, we are home to the John A. Burns School of Medicine Pediatrics and OB/GYN residency programs.
The Carter Unit at Kapi'olani is a pediatric unit dedicated to the care of patients from birth to approximately 6 to 8 years of age with the goal of providing comprehensive, individualized and family centered care to our patients. The experienced team in the Carter Unit provides complex medical/surgical care, care for medically fragile children and restorative care, telemetry, cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, chest tubes, traction, Bi-pap ventilation, apnea monitoring, hyperbilirubinemia phototherapy, and IV therapy, as well as postoperative open-heart surgery.
If you are a compassionate, sensitive caregiver and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment, you could be the ideal candidate for our Registered Nurse position. You would provide nursing services through the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of patient care in our Carter Unit. You would also function as an associate to a charge nurse, and eventually assume charge nurse responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications: Current Hawai'i Registered Nurse License. One (1) year recent acute care Registered Nurse experience. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card. Current Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) CPR cards.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field. Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) CPR cards. Two (2) years recent acute care Registered Nurse experience in Pediatrics.
