Job Description

SAP ABAP Consultant / Developer Location: Chicago, IL Work Model: (Onsite) Duration: 6+ Months Experience Required: 9-12 Years Job Type: Contract SAP ABAP Consultant / Developer to support enterprise SAP implementation and enhancement programs. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in ABAP development, object-oriented programming, SAP integrations, and technical design. This role involves close coordination with functional consultants, business stakeholders, and technical teams to deliver scalable and high-quality SAP solutions. The SAP ABAP Consultant will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting SAP customizations, interfaces, reports, and enhancements aligned with business requirements, ensuring stable performance and adherence to best practices. Key Responsibilities

Analyze business requirements and provide SAP ABAP technical solutions.
Develop and enhance ABAP objects including Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, Workflows (RICEFW).

• Build and support: o ALV reports, Classical & Interactive reports o User exits, customer exits, BADI implementations, enhancement frameworks o SmartForms / SAP Scripts / Adobe Forms o IDocs / RFC / BAPI / Proxy / Web services o BDC, LSMW, data conversions

Work closely with SAP functional teams (MM, SD, PP, FI/CO, EWM, etc.) for integrated technical delivery.
Create technical design documents, unit test cases, and code review documentation.

• Perform performance tuning and debugging using: o SQL Trace (ST05), Runtime Analysis (SAT/SE30), Debugger

Support production issues, root cause analysis, and defect resolution.
Participate in SIT/UAT testing, go-live support, and post go-live hypercare.
Follow development standards and ensure quality deliverables.
Coordinate with BASIS/security teams for transports and access requirements.

Required Qualifications (Must-Haves) • 9-12 years of SAP ABAP development experience. • Strong hands-on expertise in: o ABAP / OO ABAP o Enhancements (BADIs, User exits, Enhancement Framework) o Interfaces (IDocs, RFC, BAPI, ALE) o Forms (SmartForms / SAP Scripts / Adobe Forms) o Reports (ALV, classical, interactive)

Strong experience in debugging, performance tuning and code optimization.
Experience working on SAP implementation/support projects (end-to-end lifecycle).
Strong communication and client-facing skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-To-Haves) • Experience with SAP S/4HANA technical objects. • Exposure to: o CDS Views, AMDP, OData services, Fiori o BTP integrations o PI/PO or CPI

Experience with Agile delivery models.
Experience with SAP Workflow, BRF+, Output management.
