Overview The Construction Technology Department is seeking a student during the school year to assist in repair & maintenance on equipment, and organization of materials and tools. The Lab Assistant’s primary mission is to assist the full-time Construction Technology Faculty Staff in performing specified tasks. The Lab Assistant is an important part of keeping the Construction Technology Department in proper working condition to benefit students. A major area of responsibility emphasizes finishing specified tasks assigned. Responsibilities Must have professional appearance and attitude at all times. Must be able to work with faculty and staff to meet requests. Demonstrate proper lab safety, including the proper use of PPE. Demonstrate the ability to work efficiently and complete assigned tasks. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications Good Conduct and Academic Standing with the college Sheridan College Student currently enrolled Cumulative GPA is 2.0 or greater Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Must have basic knowledge of safety and familiar with the Construction Finish Lab and Construction Tech Lab environment. Must keep all tools organized and stored properly. Must be organized and detail oriented. Must be willing to work in a team environment and alone. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to research and utilize technical bulletins and manuals to troubleshoot and set up and repair lab equipment. Ability to work with others, both individually and in groups, demonstrates the ability to work under time constraints or with a schedule. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements Complies with safety policies for working in a shop environment. Ability to lift 40 lbs. and carry 25 ft.
