Summary

MONITOR TECH

CENTRAL MONITORING UNIT

Position Summary : Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provides continuous monitor observation and EKG rhythm strip documentation. Documents and interprets EKG rhythm strips for all patients. Communicates to appropriate nurses of changes in cardiac rhythms

Essential Functions:  

• Clinical Responsibilities : Provides continues cardiac monitor observation. 
• Communication Responsibilities : Communicates the appropriate nurse of changes in cardiac rhythm/documents rhythm strips.
• Technical Responsibilities : Ensures all cardiac telemetry monitoring equipment is in working order at all times. Flags monitor appropriately, i.e., patient off floor.

Qualifications/Requirements: Entry level knowledge; basic employment skills; High School diploma: GED equivalent or High School certificate Education/Knowledge: Experience: Less than one year. Must have pre-hand knowledge and/or training in Cardiac monitoring and EKG interpretation and documentation

BLS is required - American Heart Association.
